I'm currently running a DELL Precision 9920 Workstation laptop. It is older with an i5 processor and 32 GB RAM, 1TB SSD. I think I'm pushing it too hard, and it is often sluggish. Time to throw money at the problem.
What will you be doing with this PC? Be as specific as possible, and include specific games or programs you will be using.
I own/run a design/marketing agency and do a lot of 3D design, graphic design, and photo/video editing. I use the following programs in my day-to-day: SolidWorks (CAD), Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe After Effects, Adobe Premier, Adobe Lightroom, Luxion Keyshot (3D rendering/animation).
I'm not really into PC gaming, but might try it out (COD) after building the PC. Gaming certainly won't be the main driver here.
What is your maximum budget before rebates/shipping/taxes?
$3500
When do you plan on building/buying the PC? Note: beyond a week or two from today means any build you receive will be out of date when you want to buy.
Looking to start right now.
What, exactly, do you need included in the budget? (ToweOS/monitokeyboard/mouse/etc)
Just the ToweOS - I've got everything else.
Which country (and state/province) will you be purchasing the parts in? If you're in US, do you have access to a Microcenter location?
Columbia, Missouri, USA. Have a Mico Center location within a 2 hr drive (go to St. Louis often enough).
If reusing any parts (including monitor(s)/keyboard/mouse/etc), what parts will you be reusing? Brands and models are appreciated.
Monitor: 1x LG 38wk95c-w Keyboard: Logitech K800 Mouse: Logitech MX Master 3
Will you be overclocking? If yes, are you interested in overclocking right away, or down the line? CPU and/or GPU?
Probably not. Need reliability.
Are there any specific features or items you want/need in the build? (ex: SSD, large amount of storage or a RAID setup, CUDA or OpenCL support, etc)
I think I want to run RAID 10 with 4 1TB SSD drives. But I'm open to suggestions if that's not the right route. I'm pretty new to all of this.
Want to run either 64 or 128 GB RAM. I'm sick of maxing out my 32.
I'll connect remote WD Black 4 TB drives for storage and archving of photo/video projects.
Considering i9 or Xeon
What type of network connectivity do you need? (Wired and/or WiFi) If WiFi is needed and you would like to find the fastest match for your wireless router, please list any specifics.
Wired and WiFi. Using the Google OnHub router - on the other side of the wall from my office. Can punch a hole through the wall to direct connect.
Do you have any specific case preferences (Size like ITX/microATX/mid-towefull-tower, styles, colors, window or not, LED lighting, etc), or a particular color theme preference for the components?
Don't want to go really big on the case - probably mid tower. Would like to keep the form factor small. Want the window. Would like to keep the color scheme neutral (white-based) and change it up with LED lighting. Company color is orange and office decor is black/white. I like the look of the Corsair Crystal 470X and 570X RGB with controllable LED fans all over the place.
Do you need a copy of Windows included in the budget? If you do need one included, do you have a preference?
Yes.
Extra info or particulars:
Somehow, I'm getting a killer deal on a Lenovo P520c and am wondering if I can meet/beat it going the custom route. Willing to spend a little more to have something that I'm proud to have sitting on my desk (cool case, fans, etc.)
Retails for $6724 and I'm getting it for $3025
