Software To OCR / Workflow a Multi-Page PDF, Split The Contents, Then Output to E-mail and/or Folder
At the request of a company director I've been tasked with converting as a manual process into an automated one, however I'm hitting a problem that we all have to deal with that's the shock of how much a software solution actually costs (not to us in IT but others).
I've a large PDF that contains multiple unique invoices within it, and I'd like to put this PDF into some software that will OCR page headers for unique data, split the PDF into it's unique invoices, then either e-mail out the invoices based upon the data acquired during the OCR process or place the invoices that cannot be e-mailed into a networked folder.
There's software that will absolutely do this, from our current ERP vendor (DocStar) and other independent software vendors (Altec DocLink), however the problem is that the initial cost of the software split over multiple years is more than paying for a part time employee to do the process (who could also be employed to assist in other areas). The high 1st year software costs mean we'd get no payback on automating the process for at least 8+ years (and in that time better solutions will probably arise). I've also thought of using ABBYY FlexiCapture as a cost effective option but this has no native e-mail component to it.
Is anyone here aware of a cost effective software solution that could do the above? (Reddit Gold is waiting).
